Is there just one “Right One”, or more?

world

I’m wondering if there’s only one right person for everyone, or more than just one?

People sometimes say “When you meet The One, you’ll just know”.  But what does that mean for men and women who met the right person, got Married, and are now Divorced?  Or how about people who thought they’ve met the right one, but they turned out to be, well….not exactly right.

Does that mean they’re doomed to walk the earth alone forever, like David Carradine in Kung Fu?

Okay, let’s look at some logical numbers…Just taking the US into consideration, there are just over 306 Million people in this Country (just under seven Billion people World Wide).  With numbers like that, the chances of there being more than only “one right person” for each of us seems pretty darn high.

Granted, some might be G.U., aka Geographically Undesirable (like seven years ago a friend wanted to set me up with her brother. In Arizona.  I live in Connecticut. Yes, even though I’m sure he’s very nice, I passed).

But I digress…The numbers for more than just one “right one” are fantastically in everyone’s favor when you think of the millions of (presumably normal) people who live near each of us.

However, does that mean people are “settling” for the less than their perfect, Fairy Tale Soul Mate?  Or are we just being realistic, especially considering changing circumstances and how many people are milling about the earth at any given time? Besides, isn’t it possible to fall deeply in love with multiple people throughout our entire lives? (hopefully not at the same time…but that’s another topic)

What I do know is people don’t want to spend eternity (or what just seems like eternity) alone if one relationship doesn’t work out.

Seems pretty fair to me.

I’m sure the Diamond Industry loves that idea, too, since lots of people will end up buying more than one Engagement Ring throughout their lives.  Gotta love stimulating the economy.

i think this is your best post yet. you could use a bit more detail so the story flows better but i like it. perhaps you can follow it this one with how commercialism and/or pop movies have set our expectations on relationships or something like that. You could also write on the same topic for a week but explore a new facet of it per day. It could make it fun to follow
