More Diverse Barbie Dolls
With plenty of negative press surrounding what some people believe to be inauthentic-looking Black Barbies (BTW, I think Mattell may have forgotten to keep up production of their 1979 black Barbie Doll), I thought the beautifully diverse dolls below by doll designer Loanne Hizo Ostlie might have been a better model for a gi-ormous toy company to follow.

Those dolls are gorgeous!
Oh, yes, those are pretty super awesome.
I hereby admit I am one of those crazy women who, on occasion, buys herself a particularly fabulous Barbie doll.
Wow. That sounded a lot less creepy and pathetic in my head.
It would be creepy if you were a guy – like how Smithers has a Malibu Stacy collection on the Simpsons. I’d like to occasionally buy myself a cool Lego set.
Jill – I thought they were fabulous, too!
Kel – LMFAO!! That was fun-ny.
Vince – That’s funny stuff…..I totally forgot Smithers had a Malibu Stacy collection!
Those dolls are hot! They look like real women too which is always a plus, since most Barbies are two stick legs, a bad boob job and unrealistic facial features. Poor Barbie – she really needs to join the 21st century!
It’s important to see yourself as beautiful. I think media is doing a MUCH better job at this than they used to when I was growing up. Barbie was just some blond haired blue eyed woman who didn’t even come close to an Afrocentric version of beauty. This imagry was sooooo pervasive with me (as a student of media) that it wasn’t until I was in my early 20s where I could look at ladies of my own race and actually see them as breathtaking. Sad… but true.
