Dove: Evolution of Beauty

No wonder men and women have such a skewed perception of what we’re all “supposed to” look like…

  1. I’ve seen this before, and it’s really kind of scary. I always try to remember it now, though, whenever I see some impossibly beautiful model in a catalogue or on a billboard.

This was great. I really like what Dove is doing and has been doing for a while now. It’s impressive that a beauty company is taking this type of stand. Very cool. I hope you don’t mind if I embed this in an entry also. It needs to be seen. Thank you for sharing it!

Cristy – Please do post it! I think it’s a terrific short video. :-)

  4. Even though we know this it’s still depressing the industry persists in pushing these unattainable standards on us — even though the public is fed up and trying to get more authenticity in models…I blogged about this actually – I used to model long ago (‘modeling standards’)

This also proves what sheep people can be. It’s a shame but I question the sincerity. Dove is owned by Unilever. Unilever owns (to name a few)

AXE (Who pretty much corners the market on sex soap ads)
Knorr, Ben & Jerrys, Lipton, Slim Fast (oooo), I could go on. Unilever is the 3rd largest packaged food company IN THE WORLD. Think maybe them telling you to “Be Yourself” might be tied into them trying to sell some Ice Cream, Country Crock, Bertoli, Hellmans…

    I’m just sayin…

Amy – I agree….I find it sad such an unattainable level is presented to the public as if it is a goal anyone can reach.

By the way, I looked on your site, and I think it’s completely fabulous you and your husband run a Mustang Sanctuary!
