Favorite Beauty Products for Men and Women
For the New Year, I thought I’d share some of my personal favorite Beauty Products to help keep us all looking super-pretty and feeling great in 2010!
For Women
1) T3 360 Dry Shampoo from Sephora – We all know washing our hair causes damage to the follicles, nevermind being a royal pain in the butt when you’re tired, busy, or just can’t be bothered.
I use this stuff about 2 – 3x a week and I LOVE. IT. Although my hair is dark brown with reddish highlights, I use the Auburn Tone, and it looks fantastic…the girl I spoke with at Sephora had jet black hair and uses the Dark Tone version.
2) Bobbi Brown Foundation Stick - This product is great….it evens everything out and still keeps your skin looking healthy and glowing, not like you just dunked your face into a bucket of flesh-colored paint.
3) Olay Total Effects Eye Cream – This is a great eye cream for those of us over 30. It hasn’t made me look 18 years old yet, but then again it’s only eye cream, not a Magic Wand. It minimizes fine lines, and doesn’t leave your skin all greasy. It also doesn’t stop working halfway through the day, leaving your skin all dry and flaky.
For Men
1) Clinique Age Defense Hydrator - Okay guys…you may not want to admit you’re concerned with getting older, but there’s a reason almost 400,000 men got Botox injections last year. This moisturizer will help keep your skin looking just a bit younger and healthier.
2) Rogaine - I know Vin Diesel and Captain Jean Luc Picard can pull it off and make it look sexy, but let’s face it – lots of men look better with hair than completely bald. And Rogaine has been around for so long for a reason — it works.
3) Jean Paul Gaultier Monsiuer Concealer - Alrighty now….this may be a product you’ll hide from your best friend and significant other, but if women can hide a gigantic zit from the world when needed, it really only seems fair for men to be able to hide the occasional second nose growing on their face, too. It comes in three shades, so you should be able to conceal your concealer pretty easily.
For Everyone
1) Cetaphil Skin Cleanser – This Cleanser is consistently recommended by Dermatologists for one reason – it’s fantastic. It gets your skin clean and/or removes makeup without drying your skin out. I’ve used this for a long, long time, and plan to always use it. ‘Nuff said.
2) Brookstone Percussion Back Massager – I know what you’re thinking “Suuuure it’s a ‘back massager’ “. Now just get your minds out of the gutter, because when you see the size of this thing, you’ll know there’s ZERO way this could be anything X-Rated.
But I digress. We use this thing like 3 – 4x a week, and it’s absolutely amazing. Especially after a hard workout.
And if you do use the Massager as a sex device, all I can say is DAMN. This sucker is huge.

I would seriously love to see my husband wear makeup. LOL.
But yeah, I’ve used the BB Foundation Stick, and it’s great!
Man, I’m not sure I’d wear makeup, no matter how big my zit was.
LOVE BEAUTY PRODUCTS SO MUCH! Great post, Ann!
I’m going to give Cetaphil a try when I run out of the cleanser I’m currently using. Thanks for the recommendation!
Bachelor Girl – Thanks! I’ve been using Cetaphil for about 15 years, and absolutely love it
John – You’re probably not alone in your thinking
(But I still think it only seems fair
)
SusanS – I agree….Bobbi Brown Foundation is great stuff!
Hee hee, Korean men love their make-up…more than just concealer and lotion!
No shame in men using face lotion (chicks call it moisturizer) – it’s the kind that’s too expensive for other uses.
I’m a beauty product junkie (hence the vinyl sephora bag
— one product to avoid though is the Oscar Blandi dry shampoo – unless you want to look like you have white roots and smell like an old lady (not that that experience has ever happened to me!) I see that the dry shampoo you like is tinted – great idea. I swear I could not get the white out of my hair last week after I used a bit too much…I’ll check this out the next time I’m at Sephora.
And the Cetaphil – wonderful stuff. I started my son washing his face with it when he was young and he is still using it. I’ve been using stronger stuff to get all the makeup out of my pores. Have you found the Cetaphil works well without an additional makeup remover??
Hey, also thanks for appreciating my photoshop handiwork. Now that I’ve gotten the compliment – I’ll mark it as a half hour well spent
Vince – it IS too expensive to use anywhere else! Unless you have Oprah Money — then you can use Face Cream on your entire body. Even Eye Cream. If I were Oprah, I’d use eye cream all over my legs.
Carma – I hear you on the white powder with dry shampoo! Ack!
Almost worse, I used the brown Dry Shampoo from Bumble and Bumble just once, and the color got EVERYWHERE. When I went to the gym that night, I was petrified I was going to look like the Soul Glo Family from Coming to America!
Also, I’m not sure if it’s the kind of makeup I use, but it seems to come off pretty well with Cetaphil.
Haha. Oh, so true. Patrick Stewart and Vin Diesel make bald cool, but your 8th grade scientist guarantees that it isn’t ALWAYS cool. Thank you. This is a great list.
