Get drunk at Burger King?

Whopper Bar

Hold on to your paper Crowns, ladies and gents. To keep up with Miami night life, Burger King is opening a ‘Whopper Bar’ in South Beach next month.

The new bar will offer American beer and Whoppers around the clock, staying open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

(Awesome. Giving drunk people in SoBe a belly full of beer, milkshakes and fries at 4:00am should make for some fun clean-up the next morning)

This will be BK’s first U.S. location to sell beer, and the restaurant will even offer a delivery service for customers who live locally, a walk-up window for orders on the go and an outdoor dining area, which is pretty Miami-appropriate.

Their bar will also offer different versions of the Classic Whopper, including an exclusive addition: the Black & Bleu Steakhouse XT. Customers will be able to choose from 20 sauces, displayed in a “visible toppings theater”.

“Visible Toppings Theater”?  I think they need to change that name.

The Whopper Bar concept was introduced in March 2008, and the first bar opened a year later at Universal Orlando Resort in Florida. Burger King has also opened bars in Munich, Singapore and Venezuela.

It also looks like Vegas, NYC and LA might be some of Burger King’s next Whopper Bar locations.

So what do you think — do you want to down a Bud Light while munching on a Whopper Junior and chocolate shake?

Now that alcohol is involved, I wonder those “Wake up with the King” commercials will getTo top of page even creepier….(as if that’s even possible).

I dunno….that’d have to be one HELL of a cool bar for me to get past the whole BK thing.

Maybe I’d go. Just not sure about what it might be like. Has the potential to be douchey, although the picture makes it look cool enough.

I don’t think it’d be that different than a delicatessen or other casual restaurants I’ve been to that offer inexpensive food and beer. I wonder if they’ll offer the booze all day long, too? It definitely won’t be the place to take your kids to get one of those crowns!

  4. Oh my goodness…. definitely not on the classy side, but I think this might become a hit! I feel sorry for the cashiers, though. Can you imagine all the extra work they will have to do, checking obnoxious teenagers’ IDs and whatnot?!

Couture Cookie – OMG, I hadn’t even thought of the poor people working there, dealing with 15 year olds looking for an apple pie and a beer! LOL

I read about this at Fast Food Maven. I’m not a fan of alcohol, so I probably won’t be hitting the pub anytime soon. Hee, the only reason I’ll ever hit by a BK is if I’m in a weird craving for a Whopper, or if I want free refills for my drinks, and I doubt they’re giving out free refills for beer.

Not my kind of food or drink – but I’m sure it will be lucrative among the bar set…..

It sounds pretty gross but I bet it’ll be a success.

  10. honestly, I thought it was a pretty genius idea, and I love it! I don’t do the late night fast food thing, but if I did I’d be SO HAPPY ABOUT THIS :) Do burgers EVER taste better than when drunk late night? I think not! Now they just need to steal jack and the box seasoned curly fries and we are in biz ladies!

Happy to be back and reading your stuff Ann!
    Cheers,
    Cameron
