ESPN’s Hannah Storm’s outfit Criticized
Tony Kornheiser has been suspended by ESPN over comments he made about Hannah Storm’s wardrobe.
On his radio show last week, Kornheiser made fun of Storm for her “horrifying, horrifying outfit” on “Sportcenter”.
Kornheiser’s comments:
“Hannah Storm in a horrifying, horrifying outfit today. She’s got on red go-go boots and a catholic school plaid skirt … way too short for somebody in her 40s or maybe early 50s by now…She’s got on her typically very, very tight shirt. She looks like she has sausage casing wrapping around her upper body … I know she’s very good, and I’m not supposed to be critical of ESPN people, so I won’t … but Hannah Storm … come on now! Stop! What are you doing? … She’s what I would call a Holden Caulfield fantasy at this point.”
Last week, he apologized for the remarks:
“I apologize unequivocally. … I was wrong. This is sort of what I do, and I’m sorry for it. … Not the first time and won’t be the last time but I apology for it this time.”
An ESPN spokesperson said Tuesday that Kornheiser will be suspended “for some time” from his show, “Pardon the Interruption.”
Kornheiser acknowledged the suspension in remarks on Tuesday:
“I have been sent to sidelines from PTI for a while and when I’m allowed back on PTI, I will happily go back because I love the PTI show and love all the people on the PTI show.”
In 2008, Storm shared her on-air style philosophy with the Huffington Post:
My preference is fitted and feminine clothes and I am really happy with my style now because its much more reflective of my personality and a lot more fun, rather than being so anchor-ish!…
It doesn’t take me any time at all to get dressed at work because I put together a bunch of outfits at once, jewelry and all, and take them en masse to work. When I get there at about 5:30 AM, I just pick an outfit depending on how I am feeling that day.
What do you think of Hannah’s outfit? Do you think he was right to criticize her, or should he have left her alone to wear what she wants to wear?
Personally, I’m pretty tired of so much emphasis being placed on women’s looks, particularly when they’re not professional models. Additionally, when I checked out a picture of her critic, Kornheiser, he didn’t exactly look like a candidate for a GQ Cover, so who is he to make fun of anyone?

while I’ve gotta agree that the outfit is hideous, he has got to be an idiot for making the comments he did, especially about her age – and expecting to not get called out on it.
That guy sounds like an idiot. And maybe he didn’t like the outfit…it’s not as if she looks bad in it or anything!
Personally, I think the outfit is a bit much, but kudos to her for dressing how she wants and rocking the look. I don’t know anything about her, but if she does her job well, then who cares what she looks like?
I can’t stand Tony Kornheiser. He’s a complete douche.
Okay…she is a bit on the bright side….not lovin the plaid skirt with the red pointy toe boots…but that’s just me!
Well, I don’t think that would be a good look on anyone…. BUT who the hell cares…. and why is some guy giving her such a hard time over it? Maybe his salary that he’s getting for “time off” should go toward clothing the homeless and giving to those in need. And if he’s such an expert on fashion, maybe he should be on E! channel. Umm yeah, I think not. Just keep your mouth closed buddy and let this lady make her own fashion mistakes without your commentary.
Outfit is hideous. Sadly she looks her age as well. Very scary. I support her being brave wearing it but if you are wearing something that distracts you from what the anchor is trying to speak about then you are unprofessional. Wear it when your not on the air.
